UNDEF’s Advisory Board approves new call for proposals opens 1 - 30 November

The UN Democracy Fund Advisory Board met in the UN’s SDG Studio for its annual autumn meeting on October 25th and approved UNDEF’s 17th annual call for proposals.

UNDEF’s annual call for proposals is open from 1 to 30 November 2022. Civil society organizations around the globe are invited to apply for grants up to US $250,000 for 2-year projects that empower civil society, promote human rights, and encourage the participation of all groups in democratic processes. 

UNDEF invites project proposals covering any of the following thematic areas:

  • Rule of law and human rights
  • Women’s empowerment
  • Youth engagement
  • Strengthening civil society interaction with Government
  • Media and freedom of information
  • Electoral processes

Proposals may be submitted online only, in English or French, the two working languages of the UN, at . Applicants can find guidelines, FAQs, and . 

Proposals will undergo a highly competitive selection process. Short-listed applicants will be invited to enter a project document negotiation process and if successfully completed, proposals will be formally approved for funding.
